This course is assessed at 55 continuing education hours in Canada and also recognized by the ARRT for 12 Category A credits.

This course is designed to build upon the topics discussed in Dosimetry 2 and to explore other current trends and technologies that influence the practice of radiation therapy today: Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy, Functional Imaging in Radiation Oncology with a focus on PET/CT, Radiobiological Modeling and Brachytherapy. Each topic focuses on the treatment planning aspects and the evolving role of the radiation therapist in relation to these emerging technologies.

It is important the student has access to a mentor. Students are encouraged to talk to their manager prior to registering for this course to ensure a suitable mentor can be arranged.

While the basic principles are discussed in the course material, students are encouraged to acquire new information from scientific journals, as research on these topics is ongoing.

The Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP) has reviewed and endorsed the Dosimetry courses and Certificate program.

The final examination for this course is delivered online only.
