Certificate Programs

A Certificate program provides a mechanism to demonstrate knowledge and competence in a specialized area of practice, promotes standards of excellence and identifies those who have met a high level of competence and a nationally recognized standard. The learning and acquired competency will be recognized by a credential which will be sought after by technologists and advocated by employers.

Candidates having successfully met the eligibility requirements may register for the clinical component.  For questions or concerns, please contact specialtycertificates@camrt.ca.

Member Price: $390.00
Non-Member Price: $780.00

CAMRT reserves the right to verify membership status and to reclaim the difference between the member and non-member CPD course fees, should a discrepancy exist.

PLEASE NOTE that registration into a course that is applicable to a certificate program does not register you for the certificate program. It is the candidate’s responsibility to register and pay for the certificate program after the prerequisites are met (this allows you access to the clinical logbook) and to be aware of this certificate program’s policies and procedures as per the program handbook. Note that a separate fee applies to the certificate registration. A passing mark of 75% or higher on the pre-requisite exam is required for registration. Candidates must register individually for any outstanding didactic courses. In the event of a discrepancy between information, the information in the program handbook will apply.

To proceed with registration into a certificate program, please review its description on the page below and then scroll to the bottom of the page and click Next.

Computed Tomography

Graduates from Canadian accredited radiological technology or nuclear medicine programs within 3 years of PLAR application may be eligible for prior recognition of learning for CAMRT’s CT Imaging 1. Applications will be accepted online in the CAMRT CPD Catalogue.

See
Program Handbook prior to registration.

*The 5-year timeline to complete all program requirements begins with the successful completion of CT Imaging 1 or first eligible course from the CT series.

Certificate in PET/CT

The PET/CT technologist is a highly skilled healthcare provider who performs exams using radioactive pharmaceuticals and advanced imaging equipment for detection of disease processes.

The PET/CT program is designed to provide knowledge and clinical competence in the practice of medical imaging that allows for the functional imaging obtained with PET to be precisely aligned with anatomic imaging obtained by CT.

Program Eligibility:

  • MRTs certified in Nuclear Medicine Technology
  • Internationally Educated Medical Radiation Technologists (IEMRTs) in the specialty of nuclear medicine who are graduates of medical radiation technology programs
  • Successful completion of CT Imaging 1 with >75% on the final examination*

Graduates from Canadian accredited nuclear medicine programs within 3 years of PLAR applicaiton may be eligible for prior recognition of learning for CAMRT’s CT Imaging 1. Applications will be accepted online in the CAMRT CPD Catalogue.

See Program Handbook prior to registration.

*The 5-year timeline to complete all program requirements begins with the successful completion of CT Imaging 1 or first eligible course from the CT series.

CT Radiation Therapy Certificate

The radiation therapist is an essential healthcare professional providing treatment needed in the fight against cancer. A therapist with CT skills can more accurately plan and individualize treatment for each patient. Use of CT has allowed for more accurate treatment simulation, treatment planning and treatment delivery.

The CTRT program is designed to provide knowledge and clinical competence in CT allowing for more accurate treatment, planning, simulation and delivery.

Program Eligibility:

  • MRTs certified in Radiation Therapy
  • Internationally Educated Medical Radiation Technologists (IEMRTs) in the specialty of radiation therapy who are graduates of medical radiation technology programs
  • Successful completion of CT Imaging 1 with >75% on the final examination*

See Program Handbook prior to registration.

*The 5-year timeline to complete all program requirements begins with the successful completion of CT Imaging 1 or first eligible course from the CT series.

Breast Imaging

Certificate in Breast Imaging - Diagnostic

Medical radiation technologists (MRTs) who perform breast imaging procedures have a special role in the healthcare of the public. MRTs must be highly competent practitioners excelling in their ability to produce quality images and to manage the patient with care and expertise in a highly technical environment.

The CBID program is designed to provide knowledge and clinical competence in the practice of breast imaging beyond screening.

Program Eligibility:

  • MRTs certified in Radiological Technology
  • Internationally Educated Medical Radiation Technologists (IEMRTs) who are graduates of medical radiation technology programs
